Michael Pollard
Professor Pollard obtained his B.Sc (Hons) from the Australian National University (1975) and his Ph.D. from the University of Sydney (1983). During 1975-1978 and 1985-1987 he did clinical laboratory and then post-doctoral research at the Sutton Rheumatism Research Laboratory of the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. The remainder of his career has been as a post-doctoral researcher and faculty member of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. His research seeks to understand mechanisms of systemic autoimmunity, and the role that environmental exposures play in the initiation and/or exacerbation of autoimmune disease.
